A central brick chimney breast divided this loft floor in two, with bare joists and no continuous insulation on either side. The 40m² floor was insulated to a full 300mm depth, cut to fit around the brickwork and hatch.
Bradford
A compact 31m² loft with limited headroom, bare joists across almost the full floor and no insulation around the hatch trimmers. It was given a full 300mm Knauf glass mineral wool layer, fitted carefully around the hatch and low edge bays.
Southampton
A traditional brick-gable loft found almost completely uninsulated, with the ceiling joists exposed across the full 46m² floor. A full 300mm Knauf glass mineral wool layer was installed from hatch to gable.
London
A largely uninsulated 42m² loft floor with exposed ceiling joists and open gaps around the hatch frame. It was upgraded to a full 300mm of Knauf glass mineral wool — 100mm between the joists and 200mm cross-laid — while keeping the central hatch clear and usable.
Bristol
This loft had a central access walkway serving the water tank and roof services, but little insulation on either side of it. The 41m² floor around it was insulated with 300mm of Knauf glass mineral wool, leaving the boards clear and fully usable.
Reading
A large brick chimney breast divided this 36m² loft floor, with exposed joists and visible draught paths around the edges. 300mm of Knauf glass mineral wool was cut and fitted around the brickwork for even coverage across the whole floor.
Cardiff
A large 54m² loft floor with exposed joists, older timber framing and no continuous insulation layer. A full 300mm Knauf glass mineral wool system was installed for even, continuous coverage.
Manchester
This loft was found with only a thin, uneven layer of old insulation between the joists and belongings stored directly on top of it. Insulating both the 38m² floor and the 48m² roof pitch — and adding a 10m² boarded storage area — gave the whole loft a continuous, well-sealed insulation layer.

Southampton
A long mid-terrace loft running the full length of the property, with no consistent insulation across the floor. The full 47m² length was insulated to 300mm, with careful detailing along the low brick side walls.
Portsmouth
A low-pitched loft with multiple structural timbers that had previously discouraged a full upgrade. 300mm of Knauf glass mineral wool was cut accurately around the supports for continuous coverage without compression.
Coventry
A low-roof loft with awkward structural bracing and loose access boards that had left previous insulation attempts incomplete. 300mm of Knauf glass mineral wool was cut accurately around the braces and wiring.
Sheffield
A narrow Edwardian loft, awkward to move through, with a basic access strip along one side and little insulation across the main floor. The 33m² floor was insulated to a full 300mm depth, retaining the side access boards and keeping the eaves clear.
Oxford
A raised central walkway had to be kept for storage and roof access, with no insulation on either side of it. The 35m² floor was insulated on both sides with 300mm of Knauf glass mineral wool, without compressing it under the boards.
Basingstoke
A Victorian end-terrace loft with a large brick chimney stack running through it and an offset hatch. The floor was topped to 300mm and SF19 SuperFOIL fitted across both roof slopes, detailed carefully around the chimney and hatch.
Leeds
A compact block-gable loft with floor insulation already in reasonable condition but an uninsulated roof pitch. The 52m² pitch was sealed with SF19 SuperFOIL and the existing central walkway kept in place.
Bristol
Large cross braces had stopped earlier roof upgrades in this loft, leaving most of the pitched roof untreated. The floor was topped to 300mm and SF19 SuperFOIL fitted continuously around the bracing across the 47m² pitch.
Portsmouth
This loft was taken from bare joists to a full insulated envelope — 300mm Knauf across the floor, SF19 SuperFOIL across the 50m² roof pitch and a 6m² raised walkway for safe access.
Manchester
A gable window and central walkway both had to be kept while the roof pitch was insulated. SF19 SuperFOIL was fitted across the 48m² pitch, detailed neatly around the window and leaving the existing floor undisturbed.
Oxford
A 1930s detached loft with a central chimney breast running through it. The floor was topped to a consistent 300mm, SF19 SuperFOIL fitted across the 57m² roof pitch and the boarded area extended to 12m² around the brickwork.
Birmingham
A long loft with a run of support posts that had blocked previous roof upgrades. SF19 SuperFOIL was fitted around the structure across the 61m² roof pitch, keeping the 9m² access route and the existing floor insulation.
Coventry
The existing 300mm floor insulation and the central walkway both had to stay in place. SF19 SuperFOIL was fitted across the full 44m² roof pitch, leaving the walkway and floor undisturbed.
Reading
An Edwardian semi-detached loft with a T-shaped access platform around the hatch. The floor was topped to 300mm, SF19 SuperFOIL added across the 46m² roof pitch and the 7m² platform retained.
Cardiff
A regularly used loft with a wide boarded platform that had to stay in place. SF19 SuperFOIL was fitted around the central truss work across the 54m² pitch, retaining 14m² of boarding.
Sheffield
A traditional brick semi-detached loft that had never been insulated, with 44m² of exposed ceiling joists. A full 300mm Knauf glass mineral wool layer was installed from the hatch to the gable wall.
Liverpool
A wide, low-pitched bungalow loft that had never received a complete insulation upgrade because access was difficult. The 48m² floor was insulated in stages to a full 300mm depth, using temporary boards for safe access.
