How Much Does Loft Insulation Cost?
Loft insulation cost depends on more than floor area. Rather than quote a headline figure that may not fit your loft, here is an honest breakdown of what drives the price — and how to get an accurate written quotation.
What affects the price
- Loft area
- The bigger the floor area, the more material and labour required.
- Access
- A cramped hatch, awkward stairs or a low roof slows work and can affect price.
- Existing insulation
- Whether there is anything to work over, and its condition.
- Removal & cleaning
- Taking out old, wet or contaminated material and clearing debris adds cost.
- Material & build-up
- Mineral wool, sheep wool, recycled plastic or multifoil, and the depth used.
- Ventilation
- Any work to keep the eaves clear or improve airflow.
- Boarding
- Raised boarding for storage is priced separately from insulation.
- Water tanks & wiring
- Insulating around tanks and keeping clearances around fittings.
- Moisture & contamination
- Damp, mould or rodent contamination changes the scope.
- Disposal
- Responsible disposal of removed material.
- Location & parking
- Access and parking can be a practical factor on some streets.
- Minimum charge
- Very small jobs may be subject to a minimum charge.
