Quality
Our Installation Standards
Whether work is completed by us or an approved installation partner, we expect the same standards on every job. Here is what that means in practice.
The Insulation Company works with experienced insulation professionals. The standards below set out what anyone carrying out work through us is expected to meet. They are about doing the job properly, not about marketing claims — so we describe what we require, not accreditations we cannot verify.
Before work begins
- A proper assessment of the loft, including access, existing insulation, moisture and ventilation, before recommending work.
- A clear written recommendation and quotation, with the scope, materials, price and any guarantee set out in advance.
- Honesty about what the loft needs — including telling you when a top-up will do rather than a full removal, or when a moisture or ventilation issue should be addressed first.
During the work
- Access routes and rooms below protected against dust and mess.
- Correct clearances kept around downlights, flues and electrical fittings, and cold-water pipes and tanks protected against freezing.
- Eaves kept clear so the roof can still breathe; ventilation considered alongside insulation.
- Materials installed to the manufacturer’s guidance and to a suitable depth for the product — with 270mm used as the benchmark for wool-based loft floors.
- Insulation never compressed under boarding; a raised system used where storage is wanted.
- Appropriate protective equipment used when handling insulation materials.
On completion
- Final checks carried out and the loft left clean and tidy.
- Relevant documentation supplied, and any written guarantee confirmed.
- Project photographs taken where the customer has given permission, so the work can be recorded honestly.
Materials and claims
We describe materials and products accurately. We do not name a specific product — for example a particular multifoil specification — unless it is confirmed by packaging, product markings or job records. We do not present stock or illustrative images as completed work, and we do not display accreditations unless the holder, membership number, expiry and verification are in place.
Guarantees
Eligible installations may include a written guarantee of up to five years. The provider, duration, coverage and exclusions are confirmed in your written quotation before work begins. See how our guarantees work.
